~ Monthly Letter ~
Dear Adler,
Nine months. Honestly, it is a little unreal. But I look at you and you just seem so big to me.
Just earlier tonight you were pushing a little tractor all over the house. Not with your hand on top of it, but you just brush it out in front of you. Your dada and I joke that you are going to be an awesome air hockey player.
You pull yourself up on everything including the toilet. Which one day I turned the corner and found you peering inside with your arms and head inside as well. I didn't get a picture of it because it grossed me out and I rushed to get you. At the beginning of the month, you couldn't quite figure out how to get down when you stood up on things, but by the end of the month you now have it down and you are cruising all over the house! We have 2 gates installed so you don't go tumbling down the stairs.
I changed out all your clothes to 12 and 18 months. I almost missed the 12 months because you are well into it! Should have done that sooner. Oh well. Again, just last night washed your 18 months jammies. The last week you also help me get you dressed by putting your arms in your shirt sleeves and to take them off you lift your hands up.
You haven't had a big spit up in ages! And yet on the way to lunch you spit up all over yourself in the car. I actually had to pull over, because I didn't want you to choke. And thus, we had to take apart your carseat to wash it for the first time too.
One of your favorite things to do is put the back of your hand in your mouth and move it around while making noise.
Your words are dewy dewy dewy, mamamamama, and dadadadada. Every time you say mama, I respond so that you will eventually get that it is my name. But mainly you just talk to the wall and not me. Although you just started having full on conversations with tone and inflections of your voice too. And sometimes you will be babbling about something and you will just laugh in the middle of it. It is my absolute favorite. You have been laughing at so many things lately. So so fun.
You also have a gurgling sound you make in the back of your throat that sounds like a pterodactyl. And you have this pretty ear piercing shriek that you enjoy doing.
Since you were sick with the fever, you have been sleeping on your back not your stomach. We also made a little bed next to our bed where you sleep from when I put you down, until you nurse for the first time in the middle of the night. Mainly because I slept on the floor a few times so as not to wake you, but I am old and not as resilient as you are. :) Our sleep routine at night is the same and you usually take 2 naps during the day still. If you sleep past 2 pm now, you have a hard time going to bed at 6:15 pm like you normally do.
You just started really clapping this month and waving too! You wave hand facing out toward people, but not quite on command yet.
We flew to the Bay area where we spent time with Oma and Opa. You just make them giggle. But you are definitely harder to chase about the airport now! While we were there you learned how to do 4 things! Roll over from your back to your front consistently. Crawl down 2 stairs head first. How to get down from standing at a table. And when we walk with you and you want to go the other direction, you just sit down and turn around.
Twice you have almost fallen asleep in a swing. Which you like now!
One of my favorite things right now is to watch you figure out how every thing works. The airplane tray was one of those lately. It is all just clicking so quickly lately. You are learning non stop!
We had another first. We all matched on the 4th of July. It may never happen again, but I thought it was fun this time.
One of my favorite things about you is how much you love people. Lately when people talk to you, you smile at them and then when I am holding you, you bury your head into my shoulder still smiling. Then look up at them again. I don't know if it is shyness or a little stranger awareness. But you still just love your mama best.
Your dada secured your mirror with a frame and built you a little standing bar. You pulled yourself up on it immediately! And than you proceeded to bite it. Hehe.
We ended your 9th month with another camping trip. This time to the beach. You did awesome and LOVED being with all the kiddos and adults. We went to the beach and you loved playing in the sand this time. I just let you go to town and you were so sandy!
Thanks for just being sweet and a joy. Your dad and I love you to pieces.

PS. I have realized a few things in these photos that no one else would see. Since we only wear our jammies at night for bed and then until your first nap, you get into lots of adventures during that morning between wake up and first nap!
PPS. You and your dad are always opposite in who has a funny face and then you both end up looking at each other!
